An item reported that in England the keels were laid down of 4 cruisers which also could be used as battleships.(1) The new ships differs from the Diadem- and Ariadne classes while they were again armoured with a 6” thick belt. The deck armour was 3” thick. Displacement 12.000 tons, length 440 feet and draught 26 feet. The horsepower of 21.000 hp would allow a speed of 21 miles. Building costs of each ship 630.000 pound sterling. Armament consisted of 2-9” guns in barbette turrets, 12-6” quick firing guns, 17 quick firing guns of smaller calibre and 2 torpedo tubes.
