Portuguese gunboats Mandovi and Benglo launched at Birkenhead, England according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens 1879 nos. 11-12

An item referred to the magazine Engineering reporting that at Laird, Birkenhead, England lately the two gunboats Mandovi and Bengo built for the Portuguese government were launched. Displacement 339 tons and with as dimensions 37,5 x 7,3 x 3,45 (hold) metres. Iron built with 6,4cm thick teak planked and a zinc layer stretching as far as 30cm above the waterline. The armament consisted of 1 Armstrong manufactured gun on a pivot and 2-20pd guns.
