An item dated Heligoland, Germany 17th reported that the Dutch schooner bark Kosmopoliet captain Hamburg loaded with guano underway from Falmouth, England towards Hamburg, Germany was leaking anchored off Sandinsel with huge problems signalling for a tug. A second item dated 2:30 o’clock reported her stranding with the loss of ship and cargo although the crew was saved.
